STATISTICAL MODELING OF AIRCRAFT ENGINE FUEL FLOW RATE

Regression tree based statistical models of aircraft engine fuel flow rates are developed using operational flight recorder data. These models are shown to capture the operational variability in engine performance that is seen in practice. The proposed models are also found to estimate the fuel flow rates more accurately than the commonly-used ICAO Aircraft Engine Emissions Databank.
