Suti¹; ¹University of Pisa - Dept. of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Italy The design of power control strategies for hybrid electric propulsion system of lightweight fixed-wing UAVs for long-endurance surveillance missions is proposed. The UAV electric generator is temporarily switched into motor operation, up to reduce the power delivered by the ICE and to avoid its temperature rise. The strategies, based on dynamic decoupling techniques, limit the engine temperature during climb and optimize its efficiency during cruise. |
