05 - PropulsionPERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT OF AN ENGINE-INTEGRATED CLOSED-AIR COOLING THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN A NEXT GENERATION FIGHTER CONFIGURATIONT. Matuschek¹, J. Häßy¹, M. Schmelcher¹, A. Görtz¹; ¹German Aerospace Center (DLR), Germany The potential of an engine-integrated TMS in a next-generation fighter configuration is analyzed. The cooling cycle is a closed-air reverse Brayton cycle, in which heat is transfered from the internal cooling system to the engine bypass stream. The aim is to quantify and evaluate the dependencies between cooling capacity and engine performance as well as installation space and required TMS mass. |
