01.2 - Aircraft Design and Integrated System (Applications)AERODYNAMIC DESIGN OF A SUPERSONIC TRANSPORT CONFIGURATION CONSIDERING AVERAGE LOUDNESS IN THE WHOLE BOOM CARPETQ. Chen¹, Z.-H. Han¹, J.-L. Qiao¹, Y.-L. Ding¹, K.-S. Zhang¹, W.-P. Song¹; ¹Northwestern Polytechnical University, China To reduce the boom intensity of the next-generation supersonic transport, this paper formulates a metric called average boom loudness (ABL) , which can be used to evaluate the sonic boom characteristics in the full carpet. Based on this, aerodynamic design of a low-boom configuration is conducted and ground boom loudness levels are reduced at all carpet locations. |
