05 - PropulsionPROPULSIVE CFD ANALYSIS OF THE SCRAMJET HYPERSONIC EXPERIMENTAL VEHICLEO. Russo¹, P. Roncioni¹, M. Marini¹, S. Di Benedetto¹, G. Ranuzzi², S. Pizzurro², M. Albano²; ¹Italian Aerospace Research Centre (CIRA), Italy ;²Italian Space Agency (ASI), Italy The paper examines the propulsive and combustion performances of a hypersonic scramjet engine along withrnemission indexes for different species in the combustion process. Comprehensive Computational FluidrnDynamics (CFD) analyses cover the entire internal flow path (inlet, combustor, and nozzle) in a flight-cruisernsetup. Both power-off and power-on conditions are assessed using ANSYS FLUENT software with a steadyrnReynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) model and established chemical schemes from existing literature.rnThe impact of viscosity on engine performance is also assessed. The findings demonstrate a noteworthyrnenhancement in performance and the attainment of high combustion efficiency by the end of the engine cycle. |
