ADJUSTED SHAPES OF ADHESIVELY BONDED REPAIR PATCHES FOR THE EARLY INDICATION OF DEBOND IN FIGHTER AIRCRAFT STRUCTURES

The certification of the repair would be easier if a debond or inappropriate surface treatments would provide an indication before the total failure of the repair. The typical shape of the patch is either circular or oval. In this work, we report the finite element analysis (FEA) for re-shaping an example patch in a cracked (metal) structure.
