A numerical investigation was conducted into notched CFRP composite coupons. The analysis used dissipated energy density (DED), which is a quantity for characterising damage-induced nonlinearity extracted from multi-axial test data. The results demonstrated the application of DED for predicting damage development and assessing critical length scale effects in composite materials.
