A transonic shock/turbulent boundary layer interaction is analysed by DNS. The flow field shows strong intermittency associated with unsteady shedding of vortical structures, and universality of the pressure spectra, upon suitable scaling. A predictive model will be presented, capable to predict pressure spectra from global boundary layer properties.
