HALO will be the DLR aircraft for atmospheric research and earth observation. The external stores have to fulfil bird strike requirements. The concept development was performed by numerical simulation and tests. The realization phase was completed. All parts were adapted to the aircraft, are currently certified, followed by flight testing.
