SEPARATION MANAGEMENT APPROACHES DURING PERIODS OF COMMUNICATION FAILURE

This paper presents a simulation and comparison results to investigate the safety aspects (e.g.: performance) of several automated separation management approaches during communication failure.The study suggests that partial loss of communication for just one aircraft will significantly reduce the performance of both centralized and decentralized separation management approaches.
