This paper presents the development and results on approximation method of Transonic Aerodynamic Influence Coefficient Matrix using basis functions for aeroelastic calculations.  The objective is to perform aeroelastic calculations within design optimization framework more rapidly and inexpensively.  An ATW2 case study is presented to demonstrate the proposed technique.
