This paper addresses online aircraft Parameter Identification (PID). A portable “drop-in” PID capability for use in obtaining the aircraft stability and control derivatives post-manoeuvre is being developed for UAVs. Parameter estimation methods, model structures, flight test manoeuvres and the hardware configuration used are examined.
