A METHOD TO VALIDATE WAKE VORTEX ENCOUNTER MODELS FROM FLIGHT TEST DATA

A method is presented for quality assessment of aerodynamic wake encounter models. The method was successfully applied to validate encounter models with flight test data of the Airbus A318/A320 for Airbus A380 wake vortex severity assessment. Recommendations for best a-priori wake encounter model parameter and model extensions are presented.
