SEPARATION POSTPONEMENT BY MEANS OF PERIODIC SURFACE EXCITATION

Separation control by periodic surface excitation was investigated experimentally. The flow over a ramp was measured using pressure taps  and stereo-PIV. Compared with optimized vortex generators,  which acted as a reference, the flap-type actuator  was found to be very efficient in the control and postponement of  the flow separation.
