R. Camilleri¹, A. Batra¹; ¹Institute of Aerospace Technologies (IAT), University of Malta, Malta

Aircraft taxiing is a key source of emissions for the airports. The European Union is legislating that all aircraft movements on ground are set to be emission-free by 2050. This paper addresses emissions of aircraft on ground and proposes a novel concept of a kinetic energy recovery system on board the aircraft with aim to harvest energy from a landing aircraft and use it for engine-less taxiing.
