INVESTIGATION ON CRUISE PERFORMANCE OF A HAND-LAUNCHED SOLAR-POWERED UAV FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING IN TIBET

K.-L. Wang¹, Z. Zhou¹; ¹Northwestern Polytechnical University, China

Cruise performance of a solar-powered UAV in flying wing configuration is studied with and without consideration of the tractor propeller induced effects. Besides, two types of propeller (MIL and high-performance) are compared. It indicates that the use of high-performance propeller can improve the lift-to-drag performance of the aircraft to a certain extent when compared with the MIL propeller.
