NOISE REDUCTION AT FLAP SIDE EDGE AND UNDERCARRIAGE

The landing gear and the high lift system represent major airframe noise sources of conventional transport aircraft. Within the EU research project AFLoNext such retro-fit means for Landing gear and flap side edge noise reduction were flight tested on the DLR Airbus A320. The results show that a noise reduction of up to 3 dB can be achieved with such means on the existing aircraft fleet
