Passive flow control solutions for airframe noise are reaching an asymptotic level of noise reduction. Active flow control solutions based on dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuators were tested in wind tunnel in this research. The plasma actuators were able to reduce up to 0.75 dB in the overall flap noise and up to 3.3 dB in the overall slat noise, reducing 12 dB of the slat dominant tone.
