Despite the unmatched aerodynamic efficiency of propellers, their relatively high noise emissions limit widespread application on aircraft. This paper introduces a novel scaling approach to relate propeller noise to propeller thrust. This scaling is then used in sensitivity and optimization studies to quantify the trade-off between propeller noise and efficiency.
