EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF SLOT-TYPE CASING TREATMENTS FOR MODEL FANS WITH THE AIM OF AERODYNAMIC AND ACOUSTIC IMPROVEMENTS

Work presents experimental studies of aerodynamic and acoustic characteristics of conventional and counter-rotating fan models with slot-type casing treatments (CT). Nine versions of CT applied to the counter-rotating fan and three versions of CT to conventional fan were tested. Most tested CTs improve the fan stall margins, efficiency and acoustics.
