STATIC AEROELASTIC TAILORING OF A HIGH-ASPECT-RATIO-WING FOR A SAILPLANE WITH A FORWARD MORPHING WING SECTION

F. Sturmı, G. Illenbergerı, D. Techmerı, M. Hornungı; ıTechnical University of Munich, Germany

A sailplane with a morphing forward wing section allows an increase in performance. The morphing forward section reduces the primary structure and its torsional stiffness. As the shear center is further aft, an aeroelastic twisting moment is induced. The layup and fiber angles of the wing shells are optimized to counteract the twist by increased stiffness and specific bending-torsion-coupling.
