The purpose of this research is to develop a novel actuation mechanism for morphing wings using Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wires. The improvement of the wire’s displacement and actuation, force are significant issues on the large deformation of the morphing wings. This research concentrates on increasing length of SMA wires by arranging SMA wires spirally, consequently leading to large displacement.
