NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF NACELLE INTAKE FLOW DISTORTION AT CROSSWIND CONDITIONS

A numerical investigation is carried out to examine the intake flow distortion of the nacelle of a high bypass ratio commercial turbofan engine at crosswind conditions. Influence of key operating condition parameters on the crosswind intake flow distortion is examined and the underlying flow mechanisms explained. The results are valuable for nacelle designs and airworthiness certification studies.
