EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION AND LIFE PREDICTION FOR DEFECT INDUCED CRACK OF A P/M NICKEL BASED SUPERALLOY

Defects are inevitable in P/M alloys which are applied as turbine disc of aero-engine. To ensure safety operation, first the defect induced crack initiation and propagation were investigated experimentally. Then a fracture mechanic based life method is developed by considering small crack and environment effect. Finally, this model is also extended to turbine disc.
