MODAL DAMPING PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION METHOD BASED ON IMPROVED VMD AND ENVELOPE FITTING AND ITS APPLICATION

A method of identifying modal damping based on variational mode decomposition (VMD) and envelope fitting (EF) is proposed. Firstly, VMD is used to separate the multi-modal components from the multi-modal time-domain vibration attenuation signals accurately, and then EF is used to identify the modal frequency and modal damping ratio of each mode. The identified results are compared with the theoretical values (or measured values) and the results identified by half power bandwidth method (HPB).
