IMPROVEMENT OF HELICOPTER PERFORMANCE THROUGH PULSE AIR JETS BLOWN FROM THE TRAILING EDGE OF MAIN ROTOR BLADES

W. Stalewski, Lukasiewicz Research Network- Institute of Aviation, Poland

The innovative system of micro-nozzles located at the trailing edge of main rotor blades was developed and investigated computationally. The nozzle design does not require significant thickening of blade trailing edge. The pulse air-blowing from the nozzles, perpendicular to the blade chord, increases the lift generated by the retreating blade enhancing the helicopter performance in fast flight.
