EFFECT OF INTER-STAGE BLEEDING ON FLOW STABILITY OF A MULTI-STAGE COMPRESSOR

X. Liu, China; H. Jin, China; D. Qiu, China; Y. Yin, China

The calculation results show that the surge margin as well as the matching of the multi-stage axial compressor at part speed has been improved by bleeding. There is an optimal bleed flow rate in order to get a wider operating range and higher peak efficiency (PE) under a specific corrected rotational speed. The optimal bleed flow rate increase as the corrected rotational speeds decrease.
