L1 ADAPTIVE CONTROL AUGMENTATION FOR A FLEXIBLE AIR-BREATHING HYPERSONIC VEHICLE MODEL

The longitudinal control of a flexible hypersonic vehicle model is investigated. Pole placement method is utilized to design the baseline control scheme and an augmentation system is developed with L1 adaptive control method. As the simulation results demonstrate, the augmentation setup improves the control performance when reduced control surface functionality is introduced.
