DESIGN AND VERIFICATION OF ENERGY-ABSORBING STRUCTURE OF CORRUGATED BEAM BASED ON SPECIFIC FAILURE MODE

The macroscopic failure modes of the energy-absorbing composite waved beam are summarized and analyzed, and a special failure process was selected to yield higher specific energy absorption result. A detailed size and layers of the waved beam was designed by using a semi-empirical method, and a group of experiments were carried out for validation.
