AIRCRAFT INFLIGHT ICING DETECTION AND DIAGNOSIS METHODS

Aircraft inflight icing detection is very important for aviation flight safety. The H? filter for aerodynamic parameter identification and the generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) for icing alarm are presented in this paper and validated by an airbus with wing ice. The combined application of the two detection methods is discussed to improve the effectiveness of the detection algorithms.
