REAL TIME IMPACT LOCALIZATION USING MODAL SUPERPOSITION - APPLICATION TO A COMPOSITE AIRCRAFT FUSELAGE

D. Goutaudier, CNRS, France; D. Gendre, Airbus, France

The problem consists in localizing an impact and in reconstructing its load history from indirect measurements.rnFor our innovative technique, after establishing criteria on where to position the detection sensors, the participations of specific low frequency vibration modes are estimated from acceleration measurements as a signature of impact location. The reconstruction problem is addressed by capturing a few load history parameters, such as the impact duration and its intensity, to quickly assess the severity of the impact.
