NUMERICAL SIMULATION ON AERODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE OF BIRD-LIKE FLAPPING WING WITH SLOTTED-TIP

In low Reynolds number, numerical simulation shows: wing tip slots retard chordwise pressure gradient of the wing and mitigate stall, thus reduce the complexity of flight control and sensitivity to flight control errors. Increasing dihedral gets better stall mitigation, while obtains lift increase and drag reduction in pre-stall region, thus increases lift-to-drag ratio.
