HELICOPTER FLIGHT DYNAMICS MODELLING WITH FREE-WAKE METHOD EMBEDDED FOR ROTOR ICING ANALYSES

A free-wake method that embedded into helicopter flight dynamic model for rotor icing analyses is presented. Effects of icing on rotor wake due to icing time, liquid water content, and atmospheric temperature are mainly analyzed. Results indicate that both the sinking trend of rotor wake due to icing and the variation of ice shape on rotor blades might lead to the rotor aerodynamic degradation.
