ON THE ASSESSMENT OF CFD METHODS FOR VORTICAL FLOWS

R.C. Gonzalez, Cranfield Unversity, United Kingdom; S.A. Prince, Cranfield University, United Kingdom

In this study a general assessment was made on the capabilities of a wide range of turbulence models – both rnlinear and non-linear eddy viscosity models, and simulation techniques to predict the process of vortex formation, rngrowth and breakdown on a series of body and wing models at a range of Mach numbers (subsonic, transonic and rnsupersonic) and angles of attack.
