FEASIBILITY OF THE NAVIER-STOKES HARMONIC BALANCE METHOD FOR MODELLING AIRCRAFT UNSTEADY AERODYNAMICS

We propose to investigate the application of the Harmonic Balance (HB) method for increasing nonlinear unsteady flow problems. This may provide inspiration to develop (novel) modelling techniques for flight simulation. HB Navier-Stokes solvers can be used to compute the unsteady aerodynamic forces of periodic ?ows substantially faster than time-domain counterparts.
