PASSIVE VENTILATION FLOW CONTROL FOR AIRCRAFT GUST LOAD ALLEVIATION

Y. Tani¹, S. Seki¹, S. Aso¹; ¹Kyushu University, Japan

Passive ventilation flow control concept was proposed for the gust load alleviation of aircraft wings. Internal flow through the porous surface skins driven by the pressure difference between the upper and lower surfaces of the wing reduces the gust force. Unsteady aerodynamic force measurement of the wing model was conducted in a low speed wind tunnel. The effect of the passive ventilation gust load alleviation were examined with simple mechanisms.
