PLY THICKNESS INFLUENCE IN COMPRESSION AFTER IMPACT DAMAGE ON CARBON/EPOXY TEST SPECIMENS

T.H.L. Pinto, UFVJM, Brazil; C.A. Cimini Jr., UFMG, Brazil; S.K. Ha, Hanyang University, South Korea

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of damage generated due to impact and compression after impact in carbon/epoxy composite laminates. Specifically, this study aims to map the ply thickness and orientation influence on the damage in carbon/epoxy composite compression after impact (CAI) test specimens, so that further predictions can be made for after impact loading schemes.
