EFFECT OF CONTROLLED PERIODIC ROUGHNESS ON GOERTLER VORTICES IN HYPERSONIC COMPRESSION RAMP FLOW

The experimental work demonstrates quantitatively the influence of controlled periodic roughness on the intensity of Goertler vortexes at the reattachment of hypersonic compression ramp flow. Spanwise average level and variations of heat flux due to vortexes of different intensity are analyzed. The roughness is placed away from the leading edge; its height, shape and spacing are controlled.
