S. Kaiser¹, H. Kellermann¹, M. Nickl¹, A. Seitz¹; ¹Bauhaus Luftfahrt e.V., Germany

A promising engine architecture for reducing emissions is the Composite Cycle Engine. It features a piston engine in the high pressure core to enhance thermal efficiency. A detailed engine concept for year 2050 will be presented and benchmarked against relevant emissions targets, particularly CO2 and NOx. Important design features will be discussed and technical challenges will be highlighted.
