GRID-MODE TRANSONIC STORE SEPARATION ANALYSES USING MODERN DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS

K.A. Jamison, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), South Africa

The separation evaluation of a Precision Guided Munition (PGM) from many configurations of an advanced jet trainer is presented. Strong aerodynamic mutual interference due to transonic shockwaves is present. The wind-tunnel grid matrix and the analysis scripts covering the factors affecting the separation of the PGM are planned using Modern Design of Experiments. Comparisons with flight separation tests show the efficacy of this approach.
