ON THE EXISTENCE OF MULTIPLE SELF-EXCITATION FREQUENCIES IN THE INSTABILITY OF INTERACTING PLANAR MIXING LAYER AND WAKE

H.R. De Aguiar Quintanilha Jr., University of Liverpool, United Kingdom; L. Santos de Brito Alves, Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil

The present work re-evaluates the stability analysis in a mixing layer/wake interaction where experimentsrnindicate the presence of two distinct fundamental frequencies. The origin and reason for this phenomenon is due tornmultiple self-excitation frequency found in the near field. To the author best knowledge, such results were never beforernpresented for significant physical flows in the literature
