AN XFEM FRAMEWORK FOR ONSET AND CRACK PROPAGATION FOR COMPOSITES BASED ON ACTION PLANE THEORY

A new framework for analysing crack onset and propagation through XFEM on tapered composite structures is presented. The model is based on the Action Plane Theory following the works of Puck. A parametric sensitivity analysis is provided in order to check model sensibility to parameters variation. Numerical examples are presented and compared to experimental data for validation.
