ANALYSIS OF XH-59A ROTOR IN FORWARD FIGHT WITH HIGH EFFICIENCY TRIM METHOD

In this paper, innovative trim method based on CFD simulation for the XH-59A coaxial High speed helicopter in hover and forward flight is developed. rnDiffered to traditional trim method with iterations and massive calculation, the trim method is simplified without iteration. rnFor the rigid rotor, flapping and lagging movement is ignored. The control input quantities are collective and cyclic pitch of the upper and lower rotors (6 variables), the overall forces and moments constitute the trim state vector (6 requirements).rnThe research of this paper will discover detailed working conditions of the XH-59A helicopter rotor and helps to understand its performance in hover and forward flight. The investigation of oscillating load on the blade and flow details will assist blade design both in aerodynamic and structure field for future improvement.
