PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT OF A WARPING WING CONFIGURATION IN ROLLING CONTROL

E. Cestinoš, G. Frullaš, A. Lanzillottiš; šPolitecnico di Torino, Italy

The present study has the main objective to preliminary assess the potential advantages in the adoption of wing warping mechanisms, as a means of producing rolling moment, in opposition to the currently adopted hinged ailerons analyzing different aspect ratio wings with different torsional stiffnesses. The study has been conducted both on an ideally rigid structure and on a more flexible structure, emphasizing the impact the latter has on the theoretical rigid results.
