ENERGY-ABSORBING CHARACTERISTICS ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITE THIN-WALLED C-CHANNELS UNDER LOW SPEED AXIAL COMPRESSION

The energy-absorbing characteristics of carbon/epoxy composite thin-walled C-channels, subjected to low speed axial compression, were experimentally investigated. The main features of the failure modes and the energy-absorbing mechanism were discussed. Effect of layer numbers and ply orientations on the energy-absorbing characteristics of C-channels were analyzed.
