MULTIPHASE TURBULENCE MODELS FOR SCRAMJETS AND ABLATING WALLS

K.E. Son, Russia

Multiphase flows in hypersonic vehicles are considered on the base of most general theory of phase indicators, two problems are considered: transition from liquid to gas phase of fuel in the path of cooling engine, evaporating and burn in the combustion chamber. Second example of multiphase problem is the wall ablation which is unpredictable and could change aerodynamic forces to the vehicle. It is very difficult to take into account this phenomena in conventional one phase hydrodynamics, but in phase variables method it is natural. The hypersonic boundary layer (BL) and SCRAMJETS combustion are considered in the frameworks of the same approach. Exact equations are formulated with boundary conditions included in the volume equations based on generalized Heaviside and delta functions, averaging equations give the set of momentum equations with subsequent MPRANS (multiphase RANS), MPLES and MPDNS formulations. Examples of 2D and 3D simulations hypersonic vehicles and scramjets are presented. rn
