UTILIZATION OF SCALING LAWS AND UNCERTAINTY QUANTIFICATION TO INFORM TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT EXPERIMENTATION

K.G. Schwartz¹, D.N. Mavris¹; ¹Georgia Institute of Technology, United States

In technology development researchers must conduct tests that enable the demonstration of benefits and the reduction of development risk. Selection of the test article scale is an important decision and subject to many constraints. This work defines a framework that utilizes scaling laws to optimize the scale of test specimen to enable an increase in technology readiness, decrease in performance uncertainty, and risk reduction for technology development programs.
