COMPARISON OF TWO DIFFERENT INDICATORS FOR HOT CRACKING IN WELDED STRUCTURES

A phenomenological and a physically based weld hot crack criterion for nickel-based superalloys are presented. The first criterion is strain based while the second is based on pore rupture in grain boundary liquid films. Their ability to predict hot crack initiation in Varestraint tests is shown.
