TURBULENCE MODEL CONDITIONING FOR VORTEX DOMINATED FLOWS BASED ON EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS

Focusing on vortex dominated flows, (U)RANS numerical simulation with eddy viscosity models requires higher accuracy. More complex turbulence models either introduce stability issues (RSM) or increase the computational cost (DES and LES). Additional destructive terms, exclusively active in the vortex, are introduced in the Spalart-Allmaras model equation in order to adjust the vortex topology.
