STRUCTURAL SIZING OF A ROTORCRAFT FUSELAGE USING AN INTEGRATED DESIGN APPROACH

Recently, rotorcraft design has shifted into an overall examination of the rotorcraft as a global system. This paper introduces an integrated and multidisciplinary process chain to assess novel rotorcraft configurations at the conceptual and preliminary design stage. Mass estimation methods and structural analysis of the fuselage are presented in detail highlighting their impact on the design process.
